The Old Paradigm
In today's evolving financial ecosystem, the power imbalance between individual investors and corporate hedge funds is painfully apparent. While hedge funds rake in substantial profits, 95% of market traders struggle to make profitable trades. This imbalance is primarily due to two key factors: experience and access to advanced technologies.
The Catalyst for Change
Zivolve is an AI investing product developed by Ziggurat Technology Inc. and aims to democratize access to advanced financial analysis and decision-making tools, enabling individual investors to navigate the complex world of finance with ease and precision.

The Journey of Zivolve
In May 2022, I embarked on an exciting journey as a Product Design Intern at Ziggurat Technologies. Since there were only two designers in the team, I'm proud that I became a key player in the design and development of Zivolve. My mission was to break down intricate data structures into a digestible and user-friendly format that would cater to investors of all experience levels.
To achieve this, I plunged into the deep sea of financial data, immersing myself in every aspect, from understanding financial trends to the interpretation of complex data tables. It was overwhelming, but it was necessary. It was through this immersion that I was able to glean valuable insights that drove the design process.
The Design Process
The 6-step process that transformed a complex financial concept into Zivolve, an intuitive, user-friendly app.
Intensive Design Sprint
As a pivotal member of the design team, I found myself immersed in crafting features and anchoring the design system and user flows. One of my works was to ensure that our design creations adhered strictly to the established design system. It was a testament to our hard work and dedication that my co-intern and I were entrusted with designing numerous features vital to Zivolve's success. Most screens are in the agile development process and set to go live in the next five versions.

Key Takeways

1/ Simplify complicated trading by design
Before this internship, my understanding of finance was quite limited, so I spent a lot of time learning about trading transactions in order not to waste the team's time, and I also learned further by talking with the CEO. This internship taught me how to explain the idea of trading with an intuitive UI by using a deep understanding of user experience. Trading is a challenging process, and the entire product is made to better assist people in solving this issue.

2/ Accept limitations
Working for a startup was a whole new experience for me. During the design phase, I experienced several restrictions, such as tight time constraints for feature development that needed to be altered, a limited budget to provide the best finished product, understaffing in the development team that led some features to not be produced as intended, and some technical constraints. With these limits, though, I learned to channel my motivation and creativity, and I learned to solve issues faster and better.

3/ Begin with the fundamentals and grow from there
Starting with some broad concepts and developing functional improvements after communicating and testing them with existing internal user feedback allows me to better grasp the demands of users. All iterative procedures are intended to produce a better result through learning from mistakes. This insight also gives me a better understanding of the production process priorities, with an emphasis on discovering better and fresh experiences and then supporting my explorations of better features in later iteration rounds.
